After launching the HTC One with an Ultrapixel camera, which prove to be more of a bane for the Taiwanese phone-maker than a boon, HTC has now unveiled HTC Butterfly S.
HTC Butterfly S, the next-gen version of their HTC Butterfly device, was unveiled on HTC’s home turf in Taiwan. The phone definitely shows a strong progress report card when compared to the predecessor HTC Butterfly.

HTC Butterfly S is a 5-inch phablet and comes with Super LCD3 capacitive touch screen. The display is fully HD and boasts of a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. Needless to say, the phone comes with the latest version of HTC Sense UI (version 5).

That the phone runs on Google’s Android operating system is obvious. However, HTC is yet to reveal which version of the OS and we’re guessing it will be the latest Android Jelly Bean 4.2. Version 4.3 still looks a little far off and HTC might reserve it for devices to be launched later in the future.

Under the hood of HTC Butterfly S runs a quad-core 1.9 GHz Krait 300 Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. HTC Butterfly S shares the processor with Samsung Galaxy S4, presently the fastest phone. That should give you a fair idea of the phone’s speed. Though not the eight-core variant, HTC Butterfly S will definitely be strong enough to handle multi-tasking with ease.

HTC Butterfly S comes in just one internal memory variant, the 16 GB variant. However, unlike HTC One which has no memory card slot, HTC Butterfly S supports memory expansion up to additional 64 GB using MicroSD card. The RAM is the now standard 2 GB. HTC Butterfly S shares the Ultrapixel camera with HTC One. Luckily, HTC has not downgraded from their flagship device and HTC Butterfly S also supports a 4 ultrapixel camera. The rear end camera comes with single LAED flash and the front, video-calling camera is 2.1 MP. Apart from being an ultrapixel cam, HTC Butterfly S’s camera comes with 1/3'' sensor size, 2┬Ám pixel size The cam also supports unique features like simultaneous HD video and image recording. Other than that, HTC Butterfly S comes with standard camera functions like geo-tagging, face and smile detection, HDR, etc.

Being an HTC device, the importance of music cannot be stressed enough. Most HTC phones now come with Beats audio integrated along with the Beats audio headsets. HTC Butterfly S too, is not behind and comes with stereo speakers and built-in amplifiers.
